Wynwood Culinary Tour

Saturday, September 26, 2015

Hey guys! I spent this weekend chowing down on some amazing cuisine all while learning about the Wywood art. The Wynwood Tour from Miami culinary Tours takes you to different neighborhoods and teaches you about the history. Grace our wonderul host and guide was tryly a pleasure. Her knowledge of the artists in wynwood was ample she knew it all! She took us to different restaurants. Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, R House, Pride and Joy, Suviche, Made in Italy Gourmet, and Fireman Derek's World Famous Pies.  Needless to say, we ate good.

On our first stop we visited Wynwood Kitchen and Bar located in the heart of Wynwood Walls. We were served a cute appetizer plate of chicken ropa vieja, cheese tequeño, sweet plantains with queso fresco on top with an Indian Pale Ale beer. The chef Miguel Aguilar specializes in new world cuisine.

Our next stop was R House. The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a gallery. They display artwork all around their walls, so it continues the art district feel all the way inside. We had a molasses braised short rib slider with sesame see tuna tartare on top of a fried wonton chip. The slider was so good. The molasses caramelized and gave the slider a sweet smoky taste to it. Along with that we had our choice of red or white wine. (I chose white)

Pride and Joy, you guys was honestly one of the best barbecue spot I've been to. We had pulled pork on top of Texas toast with coleslaw on top. The pork was smoked and you could definitely tell they took their time with this baby. I would definitely go back.

Next stop was Suviche it  brings you authentic Peruvian ceviche with a Japanese twist. They served us ceviche which I was nervous to try, but was actually delicious in a limey sauce they call "leche de tigre"

Made in Italy Gourmet is a rustic restaurant that served us Prosecco and truffle cheese. They have a wine bar, chefs table and Italian market all in one.

Last on our list, but definitely not least was dessert at the world famous Fireman Derek's. This small little shop had a line out the door and as we walked in people already enjoying their pies were raving about it. The Key lime pie was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. And the perfect ending to an amazing day filled with great people, food and laughter. I enjoyed everything about his tour and would definitely recommend it.
